I'm in for the next round, whenever it starts. It's summertime, so we all know that means projects are scrambling to get completed during the dry weather (at least mine), so it's pretty busy. I'm also taking on another project so, I'll pretty much have meetings non-stop from now until forever.... but I could use the distraction.  |

Okay we will start on Monday 8/22 to get any last minute stragglers. I have an idea for the theme, not sure if it is going to work but those are the funnest. Will try writing up some of it this week and see how it will work. We have 11 players so far, hopefully a few more. For those who struggle to get notifications and want to be able to use their phone, I noticed that [mention]nikrpe [/mention] uses Tapatalk and, wondering what it was I did some looking. It’s an app you can use to follow/interact with various forums. I downloaded it on my phone and you can select threads to Notify. Seems to work well and tagging functionality is much simpler than trying to use the desktop version on my phone.  Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Welcome to the Murder Mystery Round of Mafia with 13 players. There are friends and family members aka townies on a river cruise and murderers aka mafia who are suspects in an important death that causes a stir in the ES community (more on that later). The townsfolk must try to find and eliminate the mafia with extreme prejudice before they are eliminated. The game ends when either all of the Mafia is eliminated (town wins), or there are fewer townsfolk than Mafia members (Mafia wins). The game will start today, Monday August 22, 2022. Lynching will be allowed on the first day. Mafia can lynch the first night. During the day, everybody (townsfolk and Mafia) will publicly vote for a person to eliminate; I will eliminate the person with the most votes at the end of the day and reveal what their role was. (Please note that narrative may follow the following morning depending on the day.) The Mafia members are going to privately tell me who they would like to eliminate during the night. I will reveal to everyone what happened each time with some mediocre storytelling. In the event the game extends to the weekend, the game will be in extended night phase starting Friday night and resuming the Monday morning. In addition to regular townsfolk and members of the Mafia, there is also a Doctor and a Detective. The Doctor can choose someone to “save” during the night; if they choose the same person the Mafia chose, then that player will escape elimination by the Mafia that night. The Detective can “investigate” one player each day. Note that this storyline includes a private investigator, who is a NPC and not part of the game. The Mafia members know who each other are, but no one knows anyone else’s role except me. I will more specific instructions to the members of the Mafia, the Doctor, and the Cop. If you do not receive a PM from me within a few minutes, then you are a regular townsfolk/townie. If you're actually reading this wall of text, add a random or relevant gif to your next post and I'll like it. To vote on a person to eliminate, mention me Dothracki PE and tell me specifically that 1) you are voting and 2) the username of the person you are voting to eliminate. Example: Dothracki PE I vote for EdgyCheesyGraphite_PE , because they must be mafia for no reason. Please submit your votes in this thread by 9:00 PM EST/8:00 PM Central/7:00 PM Mountain/6:00 PM Pacific Time/Whatever Roar and Bly-time. PROLOGUE It was another beautiful morning on the river. EdgyCheesyGraphite_PE was sitting on the back porch watching the birds fly in and out of the water trying to grab a fish. It brought them back to the good old days as a detective for the state police department. They worked hundreds of cases and thought to themselves how the water was a frequent crime scene. They cursed every time they had to put on waiters or sometimes even diving gear to investigate the scene. Just then, they hear the sound of an approaching vehicle that stopped in front of their house with a low screeching stop. Moments later the doorbell rang. EdgyCheesyGraphite_PE cursed under their breath as they got up from from their rocking chair to answer the door. They opened the door to find a courier with a package addressed to EdgyCheesyGraphite_PE . There was no return address shown. "Sign here please", said the courier as he shoved a clipboard in EdgyCheesyGraphite_PE 's face. EdgyCheesyGraphite_PE picked up the pen and scribbled on the line. The courier took back the clipboard and handed EdgyCheesyGraphite_PE the package. "Thank you", EdgyCheesyGraphite_PE replied as he took the package and closed the door. "I was not expecting anything today", EdgyCheesyGraphite_PE said to himself as he took out his utility knife to open the box. Inside the package, EdgyCheesyGraphite_PE found a stack of cash, a typed letter from what looked like a really old typewriter, and a newspaper from Memphis with the headline: WEBSITE OWNER FOUND DEAD ON YACHT. The latter merely stated: "Help me find out who did this and there will be more payment in store. EdgyCheesyGraphite_PE has been doing some consulting for the FBI and local law enforcement for a while and a little private investigative work in his retirement, but has not worked a murder case in years. He was curious as to who had hired him for this and why the anonymity of the sender. The only way to find out is to take up the case. "I guess I'll be heading upriver for a few days.", said EdgyCheesyGraphite_PE to their wife showing her the contents of the box. |
