Starting this thread to see how your green babies are doing?
So far my tomato plants are growing faster than weeds again. I definitely have a better hold on how many to keep and I have supports for most of them. My fruits have not done so well this year or maybe they have and I have just been feeding all of the area's birds and squirrels. Definitely the case for my peach tree. I tried growing cucumbers this year for the first time and they are massive. I definitely need to plant less next year so they have more room. But I was able to harvest one cucumber so far and there are several more that are getting close. I got apples on my honeycrisp apple tree this year, so I hope those turn out well this year. So far they look small, but they aren't ripe for another 2 months.
Earlier in the year I built a trellis and bought some clematis plants for this narrow strip of mulch we created between the fence and the patio. It gets a fair amount of shade during the day so it will keep the soil damp. It will take a few years for the clematis to really take to the soil and grow, but so far one of them has grown up about 3 feet. Pictures of my mess to come later.

Our gardening is always limited to basically our little balcony. But, for the fourth year running, we are growing tomatoes! Three types, each in their own container: early girl, celebrity, and big beef. The celebrity tomato plant is winning with most tomatoes growing right now (seriously, tomatoes growing on top of each other, basically), the early girl has 5-6 tomatoes going, and the big beef is pulling up the rear with just one little baby tomato. It will be interesting to see how big the tomatoes get since we can’t guarantee the direct sunlight any of the plants want. Our balcony faces East and a lot of the time it’s overcast in the morning. So tomato growing can be a bit slow going and somewhat unpredictable.

Didn't really have a garden the past three years due to work commitments and house repairs. Will be going strong again next year. Planning has already begun due to our shorter growing season.
Most I did plant wise was to split the largest rhubarb plant this spring. 2 of the 3 transplants survived and are growing well enough to harvest already. Also have about 1/3 gallon of rhubarb seeds from allowing the plant to go to seed last year; deciding where I want to try to grow more.

We've harvested rhubarb, lettuce and cucumbers so far, everything else is doing really good so far too. We cut down a bit from prior years: green beans (bush and pole), collards, black-eyed peas (my wife loves 'em), bell peppers, jalapeño peppers, approximately 12 cucumber plants, several types of lettuce, tomatillos, zucchini, squash, and 36 tomato plants.
Last year the garden went to crap, but this year I'm hoping we can break our record of canning 50 quarts of tomatoes the year prior. Which reminds me I need to get out and fertilize soon.
We also have a berry patch with blueberries and strawberries but they are not doing well at all. Oh and there's some pumpkins out there looking really good so far too.

Testing my tapatalk ability to upload images. Also here is one of my clematis plants I planted earlier this year. Only grew about 2 feet so far but it actually produced a flower. Hopefully a lot more and bigger flowers in the years to come. Sent from my SM-G781U using Tapatalk
