I've read that there are a few candidates for pan-coronavirus vaccines. Ideally those would offer protection against all future variants too.
I wonder if anyone is working on a pan-rhinovirus vaccine? The common cold doesn't killing people, but it's an inconvenience and has negative economic consequences.

Perhaps, I know the mRNA vaccines where in development for many years but never saw commercial production. They were only ever produced before during the Ebola outbreak in Africa, but obviously not on a massive scale. Now that they have broken the seal and greatly prodced the Covid mRNA vaccines, they are going to apply the technology to other viruses. Moderna is already researching ways to fight HIV with the technology and I am sure others are looking to mRNA flu vaccines that might be more effective than the previous vaccines.
