It's like hiking, but faster.
Current bikes are a Surly Cross Check, Surly World Troller, Surly Pacer, and Surly Steamroller. Ditched the full suspension mountain bikes a while back. Now if I do big rides I just rent them (e.g. Downieville downhill).
Mostly into gravel bikepacking (just like everybody else, yes yes I know) now and riding the levees around my town.

Also, I am super good at building wheels, if I may say so myself. Learned from working in bike shops before I got into engineering. PM me if you are interested in custom wheels!

I have two bikes! One Soma Stanyon that I custom built with Shimano Tiagra parts, that is my beloved road bike I have named Sutro. I hunted down the frame in white a few years ago, and lucked out and found it in my size in a bike shop less than two miles from where I live.
My second, much more recently acquired, bike is my mountain bike named Fredrick! Fredrick is a 1992 vintage Rocky Mountain Hammer! He has white tires that are no longer white and 21 (or maybe 24?) gears thanks to the 3-by in the front derailleur! It was basically love at first site, and amazing that a 18.5 mountain bike from 1992 would fit little old me!

I can attest leggo PE has a legit, period-correct, MTB perfect for SF Bay Area trails. I am supremely envious.

Have one of these bad boys sitting at home in the garage. She's been ridden pretty hard and is pretty much in need of a full service. Haven't had the heart to take it in and spend however much it would cost. I am considering learning how to do the work myself, but would probably send in the fork and shock for a proper suspension service. I think I need to replace at least the brakes due to some bent levers after a few nasty crashes... Fun fact I had a roof rack on my car and I accidentally got it ripped off in the car wash... so I also need to fix that hahah
