For those who have a serious mental flaw and do this activity.
I'll start, 99F today! 3.92 miles at 8:51 pace. The heat tacks on a whole minute or more, seriously. Feeling good otherwise, still nursing a sprained ankle.

That's a great pace! I want to get back to running. I have been extremely lazy about it/burned out by running. I've been running since I was a kid, so there are periods in my life when I feel like I just can't...and this is one of those periods.

I am not much of a runner, though I keep meaning to work it in for training. I love hiking though! This weekend did about 8 miles with 3,700 feet of elevation gain to stand on some mountains

I'm mostly running in the heat to condition for the bike ride to Reno. It's going to be a furnace here in August! Currently running with the Asics GT-2000 and using the Garmin Coach built-in 10k training program. It's kicking my butt but I like having the watch shout at me and telling me what to do. Beep! Run faster. Beep! Take a jog break. Beep! Sprint until you puke. Beep! Cool down.
Edit: Good lort! Today's Garmin workout is 3x goal pace repeats. I'm gonna die, they want 7:24-7:44 mile times. Goodbye cruel world.

You’ve got this, @squaretaper LIT AF PE! If you hold down Alt and click my name, it'll tag me in the body of reply. I'm not being tagged if you type it manually for some reason.
On topic: Thanks! I will report back just how horrible it is. I only run so that I can eat garbage!

4.2 miles today at 8:48 pace, 92F with a slight breeze. Heart and lungs can go faster but my busted ankle is borderline so I don't want to push it, which is really very frustrating.

Did 0.88 miles in 43 minutes after work yesterday... Which sounds a lot better when I also add that I gained 2,000 feet of elevation and it was up this.

4.1 miles today, 93F not as hot as last week but no shade on the trail so I was roasted. 8:49 average pace, not bad but stomach felt sloshy because I chugged a bunch of water right before. Oops.
Ankle report: 8/10 not bad.

Contemplating training up to run some real distance. Just started putting in consistent 15 slow miles per week with 4-5 runs per week. Anyone ever train for half or full marathon distance?

That’s awesome, Spitfire6532 PE! I have never trained for a full marathon, but have done lots of half marathons in my day. If you have a regular running habit, I honestly think that if you can run 10 miles, you can run a half marathon. A full marathon definitely takes a more detailed workout approach, in my opinion. My advice would be to target a race you’d like to do, and if you want, also look into some training plans for the type of race you target. There are lots of free race training plans, or also paid ones. If you want to achieve a specific finish time, I’d also recommend a training plan. That’s speaking from someone who never reached their goal half marathon time, likely because I never was diligent enough or follow an actual training plan! Haha. I actually went so far as to purchase the Runners World half marathon training guide (it is a book) but never actually read it. All this to say, super exciting!! It is wonderful to set a goal like this for yourself, if you’re interested. You’ll feel so accomplished when you cross that finish line!

Planning on a trip back to my hometown and running there in May. Been running ~15 miles per week the last few weeks and going to start ramping that up by a few miles per week (no more than 10% a week) and doing a structured training plan once it is 18 weeks out from the race since most plans seem to be about 18 weeks. I'm looking into either doing Hal Higdon's Novice or Intermediate 1 plans depending on how the next two months or so of running go.
It's a good goal and hopefully I have the discipline to follow through with it. Making these post makes me just a littttle bit more committed haha.
