I found taking timed practice exam to be VERY helpful. Yes! I completely agree. There are some great study programs out there to help, and I think some are better for certain disciplines? I used Civil Engineering Academy for construction (and for FE) and was 100% satisfied. I passed FE and PE first try (with the program, I failed FE first try while I was in school).

1) For those that are members of your local ASCE or ASPE chapter, watch the newsletter or go to a meeting and see if they are holding review classes (many branches have started to scale back the classes with the new CBT format).
2) Take a study program if you can afford it, both financially and time wise.
3) Take practice tests, make copies from the book and set a timer for each section so you can work the problems several times.
4) If there are online practice tests to let you get used to the CBT reference format, use them. Some tests provide electronic references and you can't bring anything into the room except an approved calculator. Be aware on how the references are being accessed and if a search function is available.
5) Practice on a calculator that is on the approved list during all studies, or better yet, use it everyday at work. Be very familiar with its features / functions.
